Ferrograph entered the hi-fi component market in the late 1960's after
being purchased by "Wilmott Breedon Group". Their first amplifier was the F307.
In the late 1960's speakers were much more efficient, and amplifiers largely in the
10-15 watt range. So the introduction of this 20 watt design had great appeal.
The amplifier like all Ferrograph products was extremely well built, and many of
them are still in use today.

The F307 was designed to match and compliment the Series 7 recorder
and was the recommended companion for those who purchased the 702/704
deck only version as this didn't have it's own power output stages.
The recorder was able to sit on top of the amplifier and formed the basis
of a full hi-fi system. By the mid 1970's they enlarged their hi-fi range with
the introduction of the F208 (2020) and a larger power version, notably the
F608-(60+60).

In those days speakers of monitor standards were always quoted and supplied as single units rather than the normal stereo pair of more domestic models. |
Many hi-fi enthusiasts in those days were keen to have matching components from
the same manufacturer and to cater for this a stereo radio tuner the SFM1, and an
excellent if expensive pair of reflex speakers the S1 Monitor were added to the range.
